    Where can you store luggage in Fez?

    Fez is one of the few Moroccan cities where left luggage genuinely exists: a service reachable from outside the railway station at around 10 MAD per bag per day, and a counter at the bus station near Bab Mahrouk at around 5 MAD, with longer opening hours. So the real obstacle in Fez is not storage but the last kilometre: Fez el-Bali is the largest car-free urban area in the world, and no vehicle will drop your suitcases at your riad door.     Left luggage at Fez railway station

    Fez station, in the new town, has a bag-minding service reached from outside the building rather than from the concourse. Travellers report a rate of around 10 MAD per bag per day for padlocked bags, open daily roughly 6am to 8pm. It is the handiest option if you are arriving or leaving by train.

    What it doesn't cover

    It closes in the early evening: a night flight or night train leaves you stuck if you have not collected your things by 8pm. Bags usually need a padlock you supply yourself, and both the rate and the hours come from traveller reports, not from an official ONCF page.

    Fez bus station sits just outside the ramparts, north-west of Bab Mahrouk — a few minutes' walk from the medina gates, which makes it a far more relevant drop-off point than the railway station if your riad is inside Fez el-Bali. The service is reported at around 5 MAD per bag, with very long hours, roughly 6am to midnight.

    What it doesn't cover

    It is a bus-station counter, not a secure facility: no booking, no insurance, and capacity that can be full in high season. The long hours are traveller-reported and may vary by day and around public holidays.

    Your riad in the medina — and the porter question

    Riads in Fez el-Bali will happily hold guests' bags before check-in and after check-out. Many will also send someone to meet you at the nearest medina gate with a handcart for the suitcases. That is often the real answer in Fez: storage is not the problem, getting there is.

    What it doesn't cover

    Guests only. And if you turn up unannounced, nobody will be waiting at the gate: a porter has to be arranged in advance, giving your arrival time and the gate you will come in by.

    Fez-Saïss airport: nothing on site

    Fez-Saïss airport is about 17 km from Bab Boujloud, the medina's blue gate, and linked to the railway station by bus line 16 for a few dirhams. No luggage storage is offered there, in departures or arrivals: it is a modest airport without that kind of facility.

    What it doesn't cover

    Do not count on leaving bags there between flights or before a late departure. If you fly out in the evening, the bus-station counter with its longer hours is the only realistic fallback — and you then have to plan the trip back out to the airport.

    Can you explore the Fez medina with a suitcase?

    Avoid it entirely. The lanes are narrow, sloping, often cobbled and broken by steps, with dense foot traffic. A wheeled suitcase slows you down, gets in everyone's way and makes visiting the tanneries or the madrasas impossible.
